AUGUST 2011: "FEED THE NEED 2011" IN KNOXVILLE (tn)

On August 26th and 27th, the Knoxville World’s Fair Park will become host to the first Worship In The City® Knoxville 2011, a celebration festival that will invite thousands of community members from Knoxville and the surrounding counties for a weekend of unity, entertainment, and service.

Simultaneously, the community will be invited to participate in Feed the Need 2011, a Knoxville community humanitarian project in partnership with Kids Against Hunger to help alleviate hunger here in the U.S. and around the world by packaging 1,000,000 highly nutritious meals. JUNE 2011: "FILL THEIR PLATE RUN"

"Fill Their Plate Run" on June 18, 2011! Choose from a 10K run, 5K run, or a 5K walk around the streets of scenic Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, MN. Your run or walk will be chip timed on a USATF certified and sanctioned course. Kids have 1/4, 1/2, & 1 mile Fun Runs available, along with various games and activities. Participants can recharge on sport snacks, fresh fruit, and drink along with servings from Fat Lorenzo's and Blue Plate Restaurants. Proceeds from this event will purchase meals to be packed the next weekend and shipped to Haiti. Have Fun. Make a difference. Stop Hunger. Now!

MARCH 2011: 2ND ANNUAL "NEW HOPE FOR HAITI" FOOD PACKAGING EVENT

After the devastating earthquake hit Haiti in January of 2010, Kids Against Hunger reached out to the New Hope, Crystal, and Robbinsdale (MN) communities to package one million meals for the victims. The event was called "New Hope for Haiti" and the response was outstanding! We met our goal because our community came together – students, seniors, places of worship, community groups and families. Enough meals were packaged to feed 2,740 people one meal a day for an entire year.

The 2nd Annual "New Hope for Haiti" event will take place in March of 2011. We must raise $100,000 to cover the cost of the ingredients, supplies, and transportation.
